Water Bear is continuing to carve out his space within the evolving electronic music landscape, blending the high-impact energy of Future Rave with the emotional depth of progressive house. With releases across more than 10 international labels, including Sony– and Warner-affiliated imprints and recognition in global competitions, his momentum is steadily building across both industry and dancefloors.

The release of ‘Future Harmony’ captures duality, combining driving rhythms, soaring synths, and a festival-ready atmosphere with a more melodic, emotive core. Designed to feel both powerful and uplifting, the track reflects a forward-thinking approach to sound– one that balances intensity with connection.

In this exclusive interview, Water Bear shares the inspiration behind ‘Future Harmony’, his approach to blending genres, and where his sound is headed next.

You describe the track as a blend of power and emotion. How did you approach balancing those two elements during the production process?

I approached this by structuring the track around contrast. I combined high-energy drops with more melodic and atmospheric breakdowns to create a balance between intensity and emotional depth. My goal was to ensure that the track delivers a strong impact in a festival environment while still maintaining a sense of connection and storytelling for the listener.

The Future Rave sound continues to evolve, where do you see your own style fitting within that space right now?

I see my style evolving toward a more melodic and cinematic direction within Future Rave. While the genre is often driven by energy and rhythm, I focus on integrating emotional depth and musical storytelling into my productions. Through my work with more than 10 international labels across Europe and North America, including those connected to major groups such as Sony and Warner, I have developed a sound that aims to connect with a global audience while maintaining a distinct artistic identity. My goal is to contribute to the evolution of the genre by balancing high-energy structures with a more immersive and emotionally engaging approach.

There’s a strong festival energy throughout the track. Did you have a specific moment or crowd in mind while creating it?

Yes, I had large-scale festival environments in mind when designing the structure and energy of the track. At the same time, I wanted it to resonate beyond the dancefloor, so I also focused on creating a more immersive emotional experience for listeners in different contexts.

Can you walk us through a defining moment in ‘Future Harmony’ that really captures its essence for you?

A defining moment in the track is the transition from the melodic breakdown into the main drop. This section captures the core contrast between emotion and power, where the buildup creates anticipation and the drop delivers energy. It represents the overall concept behind the track.

You’ve worked with a range of international labels, how has that global exposure influenced your sound and creative direction?

Working with international labels, including those connected to major groups like Sony and Warner, has had a significant influence on my artistic development. It has exposed me to different audiences and industry standards, which helped me refine my production approach and develop a sound that can resonate across different regions globally.

Artists like David Guetta and MORTEN have shaped the Future Rave movement, have they influenced your work, or are you aiming to take a different path?

Artists like David Guetta and MORTEN have played an important role in shaping the Future Rave sound, and their work has influenced the direction of the genre. While I respect that influence, my goal is to develop my own artistic identity by focusing more on emotional depth and melodic storytelling within the genre.

How does ‘Future Harmony’ represent where you are creatively at this point in your career?

Future Harmony’ represents a stage where I am refining my ability to balance energy and emotion in a more cohesive way. It reflects my current focus on creating music that works both in high-energy environments and in more immersive listening settings, while continuing to develop my identity as a globally-oriented electronic music artist.

Looking ahead, can fans expect more in this sonic direction, or are you exploring new ideas for upcoming releases?

Moving forward, I will continue to develop my sound within Future Rave and melodic electronic music, while also exploring more cinematic and emotionally-driven elements. My aim is to push my sound further and continue building a stronger presence within the global electronic music scene.
