Dropped on June 13, 2025, the release marks a genre-defying moment for the iconic Balearic brand as it celebrates its 45th anniversary, blending Pig&Dan’s atmospheric techno roots with the laid-back, sun-drenched ethos that has defined Café del Mar’s global chillout legacy.
Known for their high-octane techno sets at festivals like Tomorrowland and Awakenings, Pig&Dan pivot inward on Journey Within, revealing a more contemplative, emotive dimension of their sound. The album flows through earthy dub textures, warm psychedelia, and downtempo soundscapes – a deep dive into reflection without losing their unmistakable sonic identity.
“This album is a journey into our minds,” divulged Pig&Dan. “We wanted to step away from the club and explore the deeper, more emotive side of our musical DNA.”
Kicking off with standout opener ‘Can’t Do It On My Own’, the record immediately sets a meditative tone, fusing ambient strings, atmospheric synths, and heartfelt vocals that elevate the track into soulful territory. The project, curated and championed by Café del Mar’s resident DJ Ken Fan, resonated long before release. “I tested these tracks in my sunset sets,” said Fan, “and the crowd’s response was immediate. People were Shazaming with no results. I knew we had something special.”
With stunning cover art by David Robles, Journey Within launches a new era for Café del Mar Music – one where artist-led storytelling meets timeless Balearic spirit. And if this debut is any indication, there’s much more on the horizon.
