Revered Tokyo-based electronic music producer Chizawa Q is gearing up to release his new single ‘Beluga’ on October 4th via the Belgium imprint R&S Recordings. This single marks Chizawa Q’s return to the industry as a producer after a hiatus. ‘Beluga’ is a techno and jazz infused masterpiece with theatrical highs and lows, interwoven with absolutely sublime production.

‘Beluga’ was inspired by the Detroit techno scene as well as contemporary jazz. It’s a collaboration with Masaki Sakamoto, and together they’ve crafted a track that’s entirely in a league of its own. ‘Beluga’ is the debut single from Chizawa Q’s upcoming album Xenoverse which will be released on November 22nd 2024.

Chizawa Q burst onto the scene in 2006 with his debut EP Lost Asia which was also released on R&S Recordings, making his return to the imprint somewhat of a full circle moment. In his almost two decade career, Chizawa Q has worked with the likes of the penultimate Jeff Mills, esteemed anime composer Yoko Kanno, and has contributed to soundtracks for video games such as Star Wars:VISIONS and Pokémon Animation.

‘Beluga’ is unrivalled in terms of innovation, sound design and emotion. It could easily be part of the soundtrack to a thriller / crime series or movie. It’s gripping and powerful, all while leaving the listener in complete awe. The accompanying music video is equally as enticing, featuring mind-bending black and white visuals that morph between different objects, places, people and animals.
