We explore Mystik Vibes’s remarkable sound further with this latest Q&A below.
How did you get into music and for how long have you been involved in the arts?
Music was part of my life since I was a little boy. My father used to play acoustic guitar and I used to play the violin and piano. I have always been attracted to electronic music and I grew up listening to artists like John Digweed, Richie Hawtin, Hernan Cattaneo and Sven Vath. I began DJ-ing in 2011 and had my first release in 2014.
What inspires you and what makes you want to keep making music?
I like playing different melodies on my keyboard using different software synths and getting my inspiration from there. Making music makes me happy.
Which artists are you currently listening to? And is there any one of these that you’d like to collaborate with?
I am a big fan of Damian Lazarus. I would love to have the chance to collaborate with him. I also love Marco Carola, Jamie Jones and Hot Since 82.
How do you separate yourself from other artists and producers right now?
Trying to get my original signature sound and express myself with different genres of house music like tech-house, minimal / deep-tech or melodic house.
What do you consider a really successful or high point in your career so far?
Playing for Deeplomatic Recordings at Gazgolder Club in Moscow and sharing the decks with some of my favourite artists from Germany, Gorge and Phonique.
For aspiring musicians, what advice would you give to simplify making music?
Try to get your original signature sound.
Which piece of hardware or software would you consider the most essential in your setup, and that you would be a little lost without?
I like using Maschine for my drums.
Which is the one piece of software or hardware you’re still looking to add to your collection?
Moog Subsequent 37.
